Apocynum cannabinum  Indian hemp   
A robust 4-foot shrub, generally in moist places, with smooth bay-shaped leaves and small white flowers. Used by Indians for rope and basket-weaving, this plant also contains the alkaloid Harmalol, a reversible MAO-inhibitor; the genus is Greek for "Dog-Be-Gone" and refers to its ancient use as a dog poison.
