THE Oak of San Francisco, and the most common oak species in the Bay Area. A big drought-loving evergreen tree with holly-like leaves, and the base of our local ecosystem. What else can I say?

The oak of the central valley, foothills in the South Bay, and anywhere their roots can get into groundwater. The most water-tolerant oak. Huge (80'+), and becomes twisted with age like it's decorating a 'haunted house'. Soft deciduous leaves, no prickles!
