Carpenteria californica
Bush AnemonePerfect white flowers & rich clean green leaves. A fast-growing shrub 5-9 feet tall with silvery shredding bark (on old stems), an oblong blue-green leaf, and a spectacular flower of white touched with gold. It naturally grows in hot dry places, but will take some shade and a good deal of garden water in summer. Blooms best with eastern exposure or in conditions of partial high dappled shade.
