Creeping groundcover with abundant red flowers on showy 2' spikes in summer. A rare and elusive chaparral plant known from fewer than twenty occurrences, it requires good drainage and full sun to part shade. Can be difficult in the garden but worth it for the bloom. Sensitive to heat and frost. Too much water in the summer will kill it.
