Alnus rhombifolia

Native Trees

Alnus rhombifolia  White Alder
A fast-growing tree to 50-80 feet, white alder thrives in riparian zones and other wet habitats, esp. after logging or a fire. The roots fix nitrogen in the soil, making this a valuable member of the ecosystem. White alder wood is valuable for timber and often used for interior finishing, also to smoke meats and fish.
