Spiraea douglasii
Named after the Greek for "shrub," this is the Platonic ideal of the form: 3-6 ft. tall with lustrous reddish-green deciduous leaves and an upright bloom of rose-colored racemes densly flowered. Found in moist, rocky areas including serpentine. Needs garden water.
